Genitoplasty or genital reconstruction surgeries are the most elective surgical procedure nowadays by females of every age. In these vaginoplasty is most preferred surgery by women. It is a surgical procedure to the genitals, to repair injuries, the effects of disease, complications and damage from cancer treatment, congenital and endocrine conditions, and plastic surgery.
The grafts used can be an allogenic, a heterograph, an autograft, xenograft, or an autologous material.
In Vaginoplasty there is surgical construction or reconstruction of the vagina. It is a standard gynaecological surgical procedure. It tightens the muscles of vagina and its surrounding soft tissues, which is attained by reducing excess vaginal mucosa (vaginal lining).
The result of it is an immediate decrease in the size of vaginal muscles, entrance of the vagina or alters the vulva's appearance
It also includes Hymenoplasty, if asked for, which is the surgical procedure to restore the hymen, which in some cultures is considered as a proof of virginity. The normal aim of the procedure is to cause bleeding during post-nuptial intercourse.
It is commonly used to treat women with the congenital absence of the vagina, vaginectomy after malignancy or trauma, adrenal hyperplasia, microphallus etc disorders of sex development It is used as a treatment for removal of malignant growths or abscesses in order to restore a normal vaginal structure and function It can also correct the urinary bladder or rectal protrusion into the vagina and prolapsed of uterus and vagina.

Q: When to go for this surgery?

The females who go for such procedures are ones having big vagina or loose vagina. The causes of loose vagina or big vagina include retarded cell regeneration, poor blood flow at the genitalia, menopause and childbirth especially at later age

Q: What are the Complications of Vaginoplasty??

It may sometimes cause:
  1. Necrosis of the clitoral region
  2. Shrinkage of vagina
  3. Stricture, or narrowing of the vaginal orifice
  4. Pain in genitals
  5. Recto-vaginal fistula
  6. Loss of bladder control and urinary incontinence
  7. Urinary tract infections
  8. Sometimes even the ability of emptying the bladder is affected
  9. After the surgery, women have been able to give birth but are at risk of uterine prolapse
P.s. It is not the only way to achieve tightness, kegel exercise and pelvic floor exercises ought to be tried before surgery
