TIPS TO GET PREGNANT FAST

Everybody is in a hurry these days!!

Life’s become so fast-paced that results are expected in an instant and the rush sometimes, leads to blunders. The same can happen while conceiving. In an urgency to have a baby, couples tend to overlook certain important prerequisites of pregnancy causing unnecessary delay.

Let me tell you all you need to know about conception and the tips to get pregnant quickly.

  • Stop using contraceptive methods well in advance. Though this seems quite obvious some hormonal contraceptives like Depovera injections have a long-lasting effect and thus, should be stopped about 3 months before planning a baby. Also, some pills lower the female fertility if taken for too long. Knowledge about the different contraceptive methods and their actions are essential to make the decision. Condoms are the safest, most effective and quickest of all.
  • Avoid smoking, alcohol, caffeine, drugs, etc as they tend to affect the fertility of both men and women. So it’s not only the female but the man also should stop indulging in these products for maintaining healthy sperm required for fertilization. Also, both of them need to keep a check on their weights and eat a balanced diet rich in vitamins and minerals.
  • In the technology-driven world, where smartphones and laptops have taken most parts of our lives, getting pregnant has become more difficult as not only their radiations are harmful but being awake till late also affects the fertility cycle. Monitor your gadget-time to reproduce better.
  • A most important part of conceiving is having sex at the right time. There are various ways to identify the most fertile days i.e. when the chances of getting pregnant are the maximum. The basal body temperature and the cervical mucus are some of the ways to determine your ovulation day – the day when the ovum is released from the ovary for fertilization. Ovulation usually, happens on the 14th day of your menstrual cycle. And if a healthy sperm is available then conception occurs. An ovum is available for conception for only one day and thus, fusion should happen within that day only. But that doesn’t mean you should have intercourse on that particular day only as that can be very inconvenient. The simplest and most effective way is to have sex every alternate day starting about one week after your menses. As sperm can survive for about 2-3 days in the body, so having sex every other day ensures the availability of sperm in the fallopian tubes as and when you ovulate.

For example, you had your periods on the 1st of February and they lasted till the 4th of Feb. The ovulation would most probably, occur around the 14th. The fertile period ranges from a few days before ovulation to the ovulation date. In this case, if you start trying on alternate days starting from 11th -15th of the month, you have the maximum chances of conceiving.

The male should also, have ejaculated a few days before your fertile period of the 11-15th day to ensure the semen does not contain any dead sperm incapable of fertilization.

Also, do not use any fragrances or lubricants during sex as they can hamper the sperm movement affecting ‘your family dream’.

Just follow these simple steps to expand your family tree. Don’t wait for too long as fertility naturally decreases with age. In case all your attempts have been unsuccessful for about 6 months, consult a fertility specialist for a detailed case analysis.
