A female body undergoes so many hormonal changes, throughout life starting from puberty,
marriage, pregnancy,
and menopause.
Irregular periods are caused by hormonal imbalance (estrogen and progesterone).
This can be of different types:
If bleeding persist for more than 20 days in monthly cycle and continues for about a year. This is known as Irregular Menstrual Bleeding.
If there is no bleeding for 90 days and more. This is termed as Amenorrhea or Absent Menstrual Bleeding.
If the flow of bleeding is so severe that it hampers the daily activities, it is known as Heavy Menstrual Bleeding. It can be seen with others symptoms like pain in legs, cramps, vomiting.
If bleeding is less than 2 days. It is termed as Light Menstrual Bleeding
