Painful sex or intercourse pain is also termed as Dyspareunia; it sometimes causes problems
in a couple's sexual relationship. The pain varies from women to women, sometimes it is
superficial at the vaginal opening or sometimes the pain is deep upon penetration.
Painful sex is a common problem. It is very important to talk to your Partner and to your
doctor about it, in case of any discharge, genital lesion. So the problem should be addressed
as soon as it arises.

Insufficient vaginal lubrication

Women experiences pain, it could be deep/burning/aching//throbbing, with every
penetration, and lasts hours after intercourse.
History of pain during sex is the first sign; your doctor will take your
medical history, sexual history, surgical history of any trauma or previous
child birth experiences.
After taking history, pelvic examination is done, to rule out any signs of
skin infection or inflammations.
A visual examination or instrumentation inside vagina can also be done, in some cases.
Rarely, a pelvic ultrasound is recommended for any anatomical defect.
Treatment for painful sex :
Treatment can be done, based on the cause of pain:-
In case of Infections/Inflammation, medications can be prescribed.
Vaginal dryness can be treated by using water based lubricants.
Waiting for six weeks after childbirth.
Estrogen Creams are prescribed it women is in menopause traditional phase.
Oral drugs can be given to Increase Vaginal Lubricant.
Certain exercises or therapies can be given for vaginal relaxation to decrease pain.
Counseling or sex therapy is also very important in resolving pain both physical and mental.
