Arise Trans(forming) Lives is a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Program of Altran North America. This project aims to enhance the livelihood options and the overall wellbeing of the LGBTIAQ+ community in South India. At present, the project is headquartered in Bangalore and functional in Karnataka, Chennai and Hyderabad.
Mental health services for the LGBTQ community is the latest intervention under this project. The rate of mental health disorders in the community is at least four times higher than the national average. There are thousands of community members with depression and anxiety disorders who suffer in silence every day. This service aims to provide free online counselling to LGBTQ persons and LGBTQ couples by healthcare professionals, psychiatrists, clinical psychologists and mental health counsellors.
The mental health experts are LGBTQ friendly and are very sensitive to the needs of the community. We also provide help to LGBTQ persons with gender dysphoria, those who need help with SRS or need family counselling.
The other ongoing objectives of the project are as below
To enable members of the community to find suitable jobs in the formal sector, the project
Offers a foundation course focussing on personality and skill development
Supports the educational, career enhancement and technical-skill development pursuits of members of the community
Helps budding entrepreneurs build and strengthen their business plans
Builds respectful and inclusive workspaces through sensitisations and other workshops/events.
Works towards building a larger socio-systemic support for LGBTIAQ+ persons
The project strives to build spaces that provide equal opportunities to all irrespective of their gender identity and sexual orientation.
We believe that free face to face and online counseling by LGBTQ friendly mental health experts to help overcome depression and anxiety disorders in the community will create a positive impact in their lives.
Under Project Arise, we provide counseling services by mental health experts and other healthcare professionals, free of cost. We do not provide free medicines or lab tests. The people in need may visit our centre in Bangalore after appointment or seek counseling over phone after taking appointment. We do not claim or gaurantee good outcomes. This is also not a suicide helpline number. If you are contemplating self harm, please visit your nearest healthcare provider or call a suicide helpline number.
