A sexually-transmitted disease, genital warts are soft, flat growths on the genitals or anal region. Other areas affected may include mouth, hands, and feet.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Prevalence:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Most common <a href=\"https:\/\/drsafehands.com\/checkout\/std-package\">STD<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Equally prevalent in both the sexes<\/li>\n<li>Women more prone to complications<\/li>\n<li>Sexually active at a younger age predisposes one to HPV<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Spreads through:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/drsafehands.com\/checkout\/std-package\">Unprotected sex<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Oral or anal sex<\/li>\n<li>Sex with multiple partners<\/li>\n<li>Direct skin to skin contact with warts or body fluids<\/li>\n<li>mother to baby through childbirth<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Symptoms:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>There may be no symptom at all or typical warts may appear a few weeks to about 6 months after infection<\/li>\n<li>Soft, fleshy growths resembling a cauliflower can be seen or felt on the genitals i.e. penis, scrotum, vagina, urethra or anus.<\/li>\n<li>Warts can be painful, itchy or bleeding<\/li>\n<li>Warts can be present on the lips, mouth, throat or tongue as a result of oral sex<\/li>\n<li>Usually, warts are present in groups or clusters, of different shapes and sizes.<\/li>\n<li>More readily present if the infected individual is immune-compromised such as during pregnancy, chemotherapy, diabetes, stress, etc<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The most common complication of genital warts is cervical cancer in females.
