What are the symptoms of STI?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Answer:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Ulcer\/Sore\/Blisters on private parts or around anus or mouth.<\/li>\n<li>Irregular growth (warts) in genital area<\/li>\n<li>Unusual smelling and discoloured vaginal discharge.<\/li>\n<li>Discharge from penis<\/li>\n<li>Rash\/Itching on private areas of body<\/li>\n<li>Pain during intercourse.<\/li>\n<li>Vaginal bleeding or spotting after sexual intercourse.<\/li>\n<li>Lower abdominal pain<\/li>\n<li>Pain or swelling of glands around genital region.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Question 5. Who are at risk?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Answer:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>People who are sexually active. The risk increases with multiple partners.<\/li>\n<li>Risk of STI also depends on sexual behavior.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Question 6. What are the Complications of STI?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Answer:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Infertility<\/li>\n<li>Complications in pregnancy.<\/li>\n<li>Untreated STIs can cause cancer.<\/li>\n<li>Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID)<\/li>\n<li>Damage to reproductive organs<\/li>\n<li>Discomfort in genital areas<\/li>\n<li>Transmission of infection to fetus.<\/li>\n<li>STIs like HIV and HBV ( hepatitis B ) cause decrease in life span.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Question 7. How can it be tested?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Answer:<\/strong> You need to talk to your doctor in case of any symptoms.\u00a0 STI screening involves;-<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Physical\/Pelvic examination &#8211; to rule out any rash, wart, discharge.<\/li>\n<li>Blood Investigation.<\/li>\n<li>Urine test<\/li>\n<li>Fluids or tissue sample.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Question 8. How can I prevent STI?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Answer:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Practice <a href=\"https:\/\/drsafehands.com\/services\/safe_sex\" target=\"_blank\">safe sex<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Use condom every time.<\/li>\n<li>Avoid having multiple partners.<\/li>\n<li>Routine hygiene measures like , washing before &amp; after intercourse, not sharing towels\/underwearsetc<\/li>\n<li>Vaccinate yourself against Hepatitis B<\/li>\n<li>Get tested for <a href=\"https:\/\/drsafehands.com\/services\/safe_sex\" target=\"_blank\">HIV<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Annual pelvic examination.<\/li>\n<li>Avoid alcohol or drugs.
